We have a cover!

Thank you to David Colon for designing a beautiful color for our new book, The Day the Devil went on Trial. Here are some of his thoughts on the design:

I’m genuinely thrilled to finally share the finished cover design for The Day the Devil Went on Trial. This has been, without question, one of the most conceptually ambitious and visually demanding projects I’ve worked on — and I mean that in the best way possible.

At first glance, the illustration may seem minimalist or even straightforward, but achieving that clean symbolic clarity took many iterations, refinements, and careful balancing of composition, tone, and meaning. From the stylized clouds to the symmetry of the courtroom, from the posture of the devil to the judge’s elevated bench — every element was crafted with purpose, drawing inspiration from religious iconography, classical court structures, and graphic storytelling.

The spotlight itself acts almost like a divine divide between heaven and judgment, and within that space, the title now rises with solemn presence. I reworked the judge’s structure to feel more imposing and sacred, and fine-tuned the devil’s silhouette so that it suggests vulnerability, defiance, and absurdity all at once.

I hope you can see how much care and intention went into this. It was a real challenge to strike the right mood — elegant, symbolic, conceptual — without falling into cliché or over-illustration. But I believe we landed on something unique, striking, and worthy of your book’s title and concept.
